Limpopo-Lipadi as a wildlife and wilderness reserve was founded almost 20 years ago, but well before that time it was a cattle farm – read more in the history section of our website if you are interested in the history of the Tuli Block.
While chatting during game drive with guide Moses, he told the story of his history and his strings to this piece of land: “Many years ago my brother worked on the cattle farm that is now called Limpopo-Lipadi. Last year, when I came to apply for the job as guide, I could still tell where the farmhouse was where the family used to live. But I also remember the long walks we made from Lipadi Hill to the Zanzibar border to go to the clinic without transportation. It was good for us as we were enjoying the walking and playing on the road, running on our way to the clinic. The farmer’s wife told all the children on the farm to drink milk straight from the cow every morning to make us strong and healthy.
At some point I had to go back to my village to go to school, but I missed the farm so much and how we played with the other children on the farm and wandered around the place. And now, so many years later, I am back here as a guide, and it is special to see all the places from my childhood days again.”
