Motse: Empowering Communities and Supporting Education

At Limpopo-Lipadi, we are not only committed to making a positive impact on conservation, but also on the communities that surround us. One of the key initiatives that we are proud of is the Motse initiative, which focuses on supporting education, health care and creating employment opportunities in the Tuli Block.

Recently, we had the pleasure of distributing new uniforms to children in the Tsetsebjwe and Moletemane communities. This initiative ensures that children can attend school with pride and dignity, equipped with the proper outfit that fosters a sense of belonging and readiness to learn. What makes this year’s uniform distribution particularly special is our collaboration with local seamstresses from the villages of Tsetsebjwe and Moletemane. By involving local talent in the production of these uniforms, we are not only providing children with necessary school attire but also creating jobs and supporting economic development in the region, one stitch at a time.

Limpopo-Lipadi is one of the largest employers in the region, and we see it as our responsibility to support the creation of employment wherever we can. Motse is a testament to our dedication to uplift the surrounding communities, support education, and foster economic development.

The Motse Committee funds and oversees community outreach programmes requested by local community representatives. Motse means ‘community’ in Setswana and is a combination of the first letters of Moletemane and Tsetsebjwe, the names of the two villages closest to Limpopo-Lipadi. Most Reserve staff come from these villages, and representatives of both villages sit on the Motse Committee, along with Limpopo-Lipadi co-owners.

Please consider a donation to Motse to support Motse’s many community outreach programmes. The donation of school uniforms is just one. https://limpopo-lipadi.org/donate/
