A different story every visit

“My stay began with a male lion feeding on a giraffe carcass. A raw sight, but a natural one, and a reminder that life here follows its own rhythm. The next morning we found him again, resting in the shade, full and unbothered.
But a stay at Limpopo-Lipadi is never about one sighting. There were elephants at the waterholes, giraffes browsing through the bush, zebras with young foals, and white rhino emerging from the tree line. Each drive turned up something new.
The birdlife filled the gaps: a kori bustard on the open ground, a spotted eagle owl in the evening, the call of a go-away bird through the trees. With more than 300 species recorded, there is always something overhead or underfoot.
One evening we slept out at the bush camp, nothing between us and the dark but canvas and the sounds of the Reserve after nightfall.
That is what makes Limpopo-Lipadi worth returning to. Not one standout moment, but the sense that every part of the landscape is alive and working.”
