Wildebeest and Impala release
By: Limpopo-Lipadi | Date: Jul 21, 2023 | Reserve
The month of May marked the delivery of some transports and arrivals of new impala and wildebeest on the Reserve. Over the space of the next three weeks, we received 1,026 Impala and 204 Blue Wildebeest.
The intention of repopulating the impala and wildebeest is to form a buffer prey population that attracts the focus of our larger predators, by sheer quantity, so that plains (other general) game that is less abundant will have an opportunity to get a bit of respite from predation.
The introduction is also handy from a ‘new blood’ perspective, as the introduced animals were sourced from various farms in the Tuli and are not all related.
