Take the road along the Limpopo River

Lilly, daughter of two of our co-owners, is crazy about the bush and visits Limpopo-Lipadi several times a year. On her last trip she took to the river road with a drone, and here’s what she shared:
“The southern corridor of Limpopo-Lipadi borders the Limpopo River. Driving the 14km river road opens up a string of different views, from rocky side arms where crocodiles lie soaking up the sun, to deeper pools that are home to hippo pods, the big males often surfacing with mouths wide open to guard their territory.
The area is also rich in birdlife, with huge owls, fish eagles and many more species along the way. Last time we found warthog remains in a tree beside the river, a clear sign that leopard are active here too. Impala, zebra and bushbuck crossed our path, and large holes near the termite mounds showed that aardvark are out and about at night.
After a steep climb, the road brings you to the river viewpoint, 150 metres above the Limpopo riverbed. From there you get a sweeping view over kilometres of riverbed and surrounding bush, the perfect spot for a sundowner while listening to the sounds of the bush.”
