The Motse Committee have a new logo, designed by Tony Keiponye and Bofelo Sesedi, students from the Tsetsebjwe Junior Secondary School! The Motse Committee asked the Head Mistress and Art Teacher from TJSS to help run the competition, and students were asked to submit their designs as individuals or in small teams. We received about a dozen entries and we had a very difficult time choosing the winner. Representatives from both villages, as well as shareholders from Limpopo-Lipadi, chose the winning logo. All the runners-up and winners received prizes, and they were all invited for special art lessons from artist Alison Nicholls when she visited the reserve in March for Art Week. The Motse Committee are delighted with their new logo and we’re sure you’ll agree it is both clever and beautiful. The tree is a baobab, an iconic tree that can grow to huge proportions. It is found throughout the Tuli Block in Botswana, and some of the largest specimens in southern Africa are believed to be up to 4,000 years old. The Motse Committee is made up of representatives from the villages of Tsetsebjwe and Moletemane as well as shareholders from Limpopo-Lipadi. The committee raises funds to complete community outreach projects in the 2 villages, focusing on education and healthcare projects. The word Motse means community or town in Setswana and is also made up of the first letters of the names of the 2 villages.
