The world’s greatest trackers, the San peoples of the Kalahari, are peoples who grew up tracking African wildlife in the bush. They have been employed around Botswana by big game hunters, safari operators and researchers as unparalleled detectors in this environment.
Extra is from central Botswana and with his brother Service he has been protecting the Reserve for a couple of months now. Together they are part of the first line of defence, the most likely persons to first detect an intruder, and alert the dogs and anti-poaching teams to begin tracking down a poacher.
Extra and Service have already proven invaluable for tracking down wild dogs for our researcher and vet Gabriella Furthermore, they are on the look-out for the elusive aardvark and pangolin, will help us count our predators, and can take guests on short walks to demonstrate their amazing cultural knowledge and tracking ability.
