“If you’re small, you must be smart

Limpopo-Lipadi’s elephant breeding herd roams across the reserve, but there is a pattern in where they prefer to go. Oftentimes they come back to the freshwater basins at Longwope farm. After a long hot day, you can find them there at sunset to drink from the basin and later take a mud bath in a small spring close by.
The high basin is easy enough for adult elephants to dip their trunk in and to sip mouths full of water, and the smaller ones try out their skills at the low basin. There was one small elephant who was practicing his adult skills and tried to drink from the high basin. Which worked swimmingly, just by reaching over the edge and dipping in.
