In March a group of shareholders and friends came together for the first Art Week in the Reserve to be guided in their creative efforts by artist (and shareholder) Alison Nicholls. The idea for Art Week came about when a group of artistically-minded Limpopo-Lipadi shareholders started meeting on Zoom to discuss how to bring more art to the area. The artists painted together during Art Week at the newly-named “Artists’ Koppie”.  It’s always amazing how differently each artist perceives the landscape, and it makes for a great ‘show and tell’ at the end of the session.  The group painted together, experimented with creating art from upcycled materials, and Alison also lead two sketching classes for children in the nearby villages. In addition to accommodation & catering costs, all the visiting artists paid a fee of $150 which will be used for future art-related activities in the schools and local communities. We hope Art Week will become a regular feature of the Limpopo-Lipadi calendar and will inspire creative activities both on the reserve and in the surrounding communities.
