During your evening drives in the reserve, you may spot their shining eyes bouncing around in your torch beam, or they may wake you up in the early hours of the morning to their ear-splitting shrieks: the elusive and incredibly cute bush baby. Bush babies, also called galagos, are tricky animals to observe. They are small primates and have thick fur, long tails, big ears, and huge, round eyes. They get their name because of the loud noises they sometimes make, which sound like crying, shrieking babies. When you’re on a drive with one the guides, the one thing they always do is check the branches on the trees. Of course, there could be a full-stomached leopard in those same trees, but they always hope for one of these rarely seen creatures. So, what a treat for the shareholders to see this cute one tucked away on a branch.
