It was a stormy evening drive, with electric storms in the far. As bush lovers know: most animals make sure they stay in hiding with this kind of weather, as it is hard to hear or smell a predator sneaking up on you. Which doesn’t make for the perfect game viewing, but alas… We saw herds of impala closely crouching under shepherd’s bush, a chameleon who was desperately clasping himself to a swaying branch, the odd spring hare getting away from the road and our lights, but that was it. And then our intrepid and hawkeyed guide Lucky spotted a pretty rare genet in a tree. This agile cat-like creature seemed rather unfazed by the wind and even struck a pose for us, as you see.
