With the abundant rains of the summer, the grass is still standing tall, and bushes and trees are still full of leaves. Although it’s beautifully green, it does make it rather difficult to spot game. The cold of winter and the fact that wildlife have had quite a long break from the game vehicles over the last 1,5 years, also makes them stay off the beaten track a lot more than before.
At the Limpopo River front there is a lot more going on and bird life is amazing. We saw a pied kingfisher about to dive into the river. We also watched a fish eagle harassing a couple of pied kingfishers who were just minding their own business overlooking the prime fishing spot from a branch. Their revenge must have been that the fish eagle could barely balance himself on that very same branch.
